The Grianan Digital Arts Project originated from a one year digital arts residency (which was funded by the SAC Partners fund) based at the Grianan Centre in Stornoway (A day care centre for adults with varied special needs in the Western Isles of Scotland.) and was initiated by An lanntair arts centre.

Participation in the arts has the potential to transform and enhance a persons life and creativity is the key force in that transformation. This is the principal that the digital arts project engages when working with participants.
The project works with individuals with a very wide range of needs and abilities.  To date participants have produced, comic books, children's story books, animations, videos, portraits, abstract artwork, applied arts, and much more.
