This ambitious project involves creating a giant 22 foot by 7 foot panoramic image using nearly 3/4 million translucent hama beads. The image is constructed of 7 individual panels each made up of 105 squares containing over 800 beads. When a square is completed it is ironed which melts the beads into a solid piece.
To date over 40 individuals have worked on this project with some of the participants choosing to become part of the image.
It is hoped that the final piece will be finished by the winter and will become a world record.
A group from the Ardseleach centre have been working towards making a giant lantern using silhouette images of themselves which they have added colour to and ironed onto fabric. They have been stitching the fabric images into a 7 foot geometric structure which they have painted and built. Once finished the sculpture will be lit from the inside producing a colourful lantern of portraits.
